While in lockdown, I took part in a 24 hour playwriting challenge organised by Emberfly Theatre. The theme they gave us was ‘Utopia’. I had 12 hours to write a short monologue based around that theme before it was given to an actor to perform on camera. My monologue, Nirvana Mall, was performed by Hannah Abbott, one of the founders of Emberfly and a wonderful actress. I’m really happy to see the finished results for this little project. You can find the rest of the recorded monologues on Emberfly’s Facebook page.
Sam: A Short Film by J. B. Pichelski & Abbigayle Bircham
This short film has been in the works for a very long time, but I’m excited to finally release it online. It tells the story of Sam, an amateur photographer who discovers a world of new and magical subjects to photograph. I made it with artist and filmmaker Abbigayle Bircham between 2015 and 2017.
Thousand Year Dawn (Marcel) by John Gerrard

This is a single frame from a digital art piece called Thousand Year Dawn (Marcel), by digital artist John Gerrard. The video I took this image from is a short retrospective on Gerrard’s work by the Tate Modern. (Hence the watermark in the corner) I first found out about John Gerrard when I saw another piece that he ad made, Sow Farm (near Libbey, Oaklahoma, on display (also at The Tate Modern.) I’ve never actually seen Thousand Year Dawn in person and haven’t been able to find much information on it outside of the above video and a very small Wikipedia section. But despite this, Thousand Year Dawn is one of my favourite pieces of artwork, and a piece which I think about constantly in my own writing.

Starfish is Now Available Online
Back in August 2016, my short play Starfish was performed at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre. I am now pleased to say that a full recording of that performance is available to watch on YouTube. (English subtitles can be turned on by clicking the button in the bottom right corner of the video.)

[SM] The Winter’s Tale @ City Lit
When I’m not writing, I also work as a stage manager in the West End. I’ve decided to add the larger productions I’m working on to this blog. This December I’m working as the DSM on a production of The Winter’s Tale at City Lit in Holborn.
Directed by Petina Hapgood, this production features an impressive cast of 19 actors and will be performed on 6th – 9th December in City Lit’s John Lyon’s Theatre. Preview below.

Auntie Rene’s Garden
Week
I made Week around this time last year, but didn’t feel it was worth sharing until now. At the time, I wanted to document all of the different things that I stared at during the week; all of the things that I was looking at but wasn’t processing. So I picked up my old handheld camera and carried it around with me throughout the week. (Which is why a lot of the footage is extremely shaky.)
